Mums bring the autumn spice to your backyard, front porch or even your tablescape. Available in a vast array of colors and sizes, English Gardens carries the perfect Mum for your design aesthetic. We’ve curated five ways to decorate with Mums this season.
- Pair with pumpkins and gourds for a fun fall window box.
Window boxes are the place to show off your gardening talents to neighbors. Make an impression with your window boxes and freshen them up for the season. Start by removing any spent annuals. Replace with hardy, lower temperature tolerant Mums. Add other fall décor, such as pumpkins or gourds.

- Decorate your front porch.
Mums are an ideal addition to your fall front porch. Paired with other Michigan-grown fall harvest items, such as cornstalks, Mums can truly make an impact.

- Glam up your Thanksgiving table.
If you’re hosting a fall festival or Thanksgiving at your house, glam up the table with a smaller Mum. Simply cover the Mum’s pot with a decorative covering. Pair with other Thanksgiving décor or even some faux berry stems!
- Or create a beautiful autumn tablescape.
If you want autumn décor before and after Thanksgiving, simply take your mum and wrap a piece of burlap around the container. Hold in place with a strip of darker burlap or ribbon.

- Build a Harvest Crown.
You’ve heard of a flower crown, right? Well we’ve started a new trend: Harvest Crowns. To create your harvest crown, gather assorted greenery, fall leaves, Chrysanthemum cuttings, Croton cuttings, florist tape, florist wire and scissors. Begin by cutting the flower and greenery stems to approximately two to three inches long. Measure the florist wire to fit around your head and secure by twisting the two ends together. This serves as the base. Attach greenery to the base by wrapping florist wire around the stem. Cover the newly added florist wire with florist tape, leaving extra tape at the end to secure additional cuttings. Gather one to three additional sprigs of Mums or greenery. Pinch them together and add to the growing strand by securing them to the florist wire with more florist tape. Continue to build your harvest crown by adding Mums and greenery in small bundles and adhering with florist tape. When you have achieved your desired look, clip the stems so that they are all even.
Ta Da! Wear your harvest crown to a fall music festival or to your local Oktoberfest.
