The best way to connect your garden to the house is to remove your curtains. That might not be possible or practical if you’re neighbors are too close for comfort. But plants can help create that much-needed privacy or help block unsightly views.
Even if you have a privacy fence, plants will help soften the look of the long panels.
There are many low-maintenance trees and shrubs that help screen unwanted views and help create the privacy you want to enjoy your back yard. Using a combination of evergreens and deciduous plant material will bring lots of seasonal interest to the yard.
Arborvitae, ninebark and hydrangea all provide coverage, color from foliage and flowers, and offer beautiful winter interest. Other recommended plants include: Norway Spruce, Red Sunset Maple, Mohican Viburnum and Weigela.
