The first-ever Small Business Saturday took place in 2010 when American Express launched a campaign to encourage people across the country to support small, local business.
It helped create awareness for neighborhood businesses. In 2011, the US Senate officially recognized the day, voicing support for Small Business Saturday. The day continues to grow with more shoppers pledging to support local businesses.
English Gardens supports this effort and we encourage you to “shop small….shop local” this weekend.
With seven retail stores in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor, and our wide assortment of products, some may not classify English Gardens as a small business, but we are!
We’re family-owned, founded by three brothers-in-law in Dearborn Heights. Today, second-generation owners oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, often working side by side in our stores with our associates and managers. We’re proud of our heritage and contributions to the communities in which we live and shop.
We hope to see you on Saturday, November 28 to support our business!
