Plants used for hedges serve a number of purposes in the landscape, from creating privacy screening, creating or defining a barrier, blocking out noise, adding visual appeal, disguising unattractive features, deterring intruders, and/or creating habitat.
Here’s a list of our favorite hedging plants:
Small: Barberry, Boxwood, Euonymus, and Spirea
Medium: Barberry, Boxwood, Dogwood, Euonymus, and Holly
Large: Arborvitae, Burning Bush, Dogwood, Forsythia, Lilac, Ninebark, Privet, Viburnum and Yew
Vines may great hedges. Try a climbing hydrangea or one of the many clematis varieties.
