If English Gardens is doing maintenance on your landscape this year, chances are you’re going to meet Rod Marshall.
As a crew leader at the English Gardens Landscape Company, Rod’s in charge of servicing clients who need yard clean-up, a fresh layer of mulch or weeds pulled from beds.
“Once the weather breaks, my crew is usually the first one that’s ready to start work,” says Rod. “We don’t need a lot of advance planning. The snow’s gone and garden beds are looking a little tired. In a few hours, we can make a landscape look great again and give a front yard a whole new look.”
Rod joined English Gardens in 2012, after a long career in the field of “outdoor beautification.”
In addition to overseeing a crew, Rod is the senior trainer at the Landscape Company, where he is responsible for educating new hires on equipment, proper procedures for planting and pruning, and many other areas.
“I like teaching the new hires,” says Rod. “I get as much satisfaction from working with my crew to transform a yard, as I do showing one of the guys who just joined us all the ins and outs of taking care of plants and creating a beautiful project.
“Sharing my knowledge is very rewarding.”
