Steve Hartley joined English Gardens just over three years ago and works as a crew leader and mechanic.

In his mechanic role, he’s responsible for maintaining the company’s fleet of vehicles and trailers to make sure everything runs well during the season.

“We added to our fleet this year, so it’s exciting to work on something new,” says Steve.

After being in the garage this winter, he is now busy with landscape installations, as well as spring clean-up projects.

Steve has worked on numerous projects throughout the years. To date, he’s received two Gold and one Bronze award from the Michigan Green Industry Association.

“This job gives me a sense of accomplishment,” says Steve. “It’s gratifying when I complete a beautiful landscape or I fix something difficult with our equipment.

“English Gardens is a good company, and I really enjoy the people I work with,” Steve says. “I have great co-workers and get along with everyone. I’m getting to know the designers better, they trust the work I do, so we have a little fun every day.”
