Trick-or-treating can be a scary time for children with food allergies. Even when they are careful, cross-contamination from forbidden foods is a risk.
The Teal Pumpkin Project is hoping to help every child with food allergies have a safe Halloween. The Project was started in 2012 by a Tennessee mom whose children had life-threatening food allergies. The Food Allergy Education and Research Foundation (FARE) picked up the project in 2014 to help it go nationwide.
A teal pumpkin on your porch indicates you offer a non-food, or allergy friendly treat option. Paint a pumpkin, purchase a teal pumpkin, or print this Teal Pumpkin and attach it to your front door or porch to participate.
By participating, you are helping children in your neighborhood have a great Halloween.
