English Gardens Landscape Company received seven awards from the Michigan Green Industry Association in 2018. Our designers received two Gold Awards and five Silver Awards in residential landscape reconstruction. Here’s a look at the projects.

Gold Award for Residential Landscape Reconstruction $25,000-$50,000

A Fresh Look for the Front Yard

A new Rivercrest Wall by Unilock featuring cultured stone is the perfect backdrop for this re-designed landscape. A gorgeous Tri-color Beech screen softened the long garage wall. Globe Blue Spruces act as focal points at the end of the wall when approaching the front door.  Boxwood hedges frame a variety of colorful perennials. 

The project was designed by Stephanie VanHaverbeck.  Juan Gutierrez was the Superintendent and Arnulfo Diaz was the Crew Leader on the project.

A New Backyard

The homeowners wanted a patio space with filtered views.  They also wanted a spot for a hot tub. The clients love color, attracting birds and butterflies, and enjoy entertaining. New garden beds soften the lines of the home.  A new patio and firepit create a main gathering space in the yard. Masses of catmint, lilac and perennials create a long-blooming season.  The dwarf spruce provides a year-round pop of blue. A Redbud Tree and Witchhazel help screen the neighboring shed.  Plants surround the firepit to create an intimate feel.

The project was designed by Jamey Gutierrez. Greg Gallerini was the Superintendent and Sean Sitton was the Crew Leader.

Silver Award for Residential Landscape Reconstruction $50,000-$100,000

A Complete Renovation

The front and back yard were re-designed to update this 1970s home. The front yard water feature accents the new walk and landscape. The backyard water feature provides soothing sounds and blocks unwanted noise.  A new fence along with privacy screening to block the neighbors enhances the homeowner’s time on the back patio and deck. Night lighting completes both the front yard and back yard and provides a welcoming area to enjoy both day and evening all year.

The project was designed by Valerie Tarquini. Superintendent was Greg Gallerini. Crew Leader was Steve Hartley.

Silver Award for Residential Landscape Reconstruction $25,000-$50,000

A Front Yard Transformation

An overplanted and overgrown landscape was updated to transform the front look of this house. This three-phase project included: Pruning large Maple trees, removing overgrown evergreens and white pines and planning Vanderwolf Pines. We also added a retaining wall of Unilock Rivercrest, a flagstone stepping path and landscape beds.

The project was designed by Sterling Weber. The Superintendent was Greg Gallerini. Crew Leaders were Erik Ferreira, Bryce Stefanic and Steve Hartley.

 

Silver Award for Residential Landscape Reconstruction $10,000-$25,000

A Two-Phase Front Yard Project

A desire for night lighting led to a two-stage renovation of this front yard.  The first phase included new beds filled with perennials and annuals. In the second phase, a new brick paver walkway was added along with garden beds filled with flowering shrubs and perennials. A weeping blue spruce creates a focal point off the driveway.

The project was designed by Carolyn Berwick. Greg Gallerini was the Superintendent. The Crew Leaders were Jeff Pack and Eric Ferreira.

Silver Award for Residential Landscape Reconstruction under $10,000

Small Landscape with a Big Impact

Overgrown shrubs and weeds detracted from this home. The homeowners requested a low-maintenance landscape to match the architecture of the home. A simple mixture of Boxwood, Heuchera and Bobo Hydrangeas created the curb appeal.

The project was designed by Brian Dale. Bryce Stefanic was the Superintendent and Ernesto Gonzalez was the Crew Leader.

Front Yard Re-Design

The homeowners wanted a simple, colorful landscape with a view they could enjoy from their living room window.  A hydrangea tree surrounded by a boxwood hedge creates a focal point.

Flowering shrubs, an assortment of perennials and a wall of Annabelle Hydrangeas add depth and color.

The project was designed by Sarah Alatassis.  Greg Gallerini was the Superintendent and Jeff Pack was the Crew Leader.
