Add natural beauty and décor to your home by using living decorations – plants. House plants clean the air and boost your immune system, and they are a great way to spruce up bare corners and tabletops, and add pops of color to your home.
Here are some great options for adding living décor.
Majesty Palm
These beautiful plants can add a touch of tropics to any home. Majesty Palms love light, so keeping them near a bright window is best. Palms also enjoy moist soil and humid air. Check your palm daily to ensure it has moist soil. If the leaf tips start to brown, your Palm needs more water. Make sure your pot has holes in the bottom to allow for proper drainage. Use a humidifying tray with rocks and water to help provide your plant with proper humidity.
Calathea Medallion
Calathea Medallion’s variegated leaves add pops of color to any room. These plants enjoy medium to bright indirect light. Keep Calathea out of direct sun so the leaves don’t get sun-burned. Calathea like moist soil, and aren’t drought tolerant, but are forgiving if you forget to water them every once in a while. Calathea are great for bathrooms and kitchens because they like warm temperatures and high humidity.
Fiscus Burgundy
Fiscus Burgundy or Rubber Plant’s leaves will darken depending on how much light they get. In direct light, they will turn a burgundy or deep red color, in low-light the leaves can fade to a light green. Although they tolerate low-lighting conditions, they love bright, direct light. Fiscus plants don’t require a lot of water. Water only when the soil is dry to the touch. Pour water directly onto the soil, and keep it away from the leaves, or there will be water spots
English Ivy
English Ivy adds a decorative touch indoors. These plants do great in bright areas – the brighter the better. Ivy prefers to stay on the dry side, so let the soil dry out before watering. It is important to make sure your English Ivy is in a well-draining container. They do not like to sit in water. Training English Ivy to climb an indoor trellis is one way to add a unique touch to your décor.
