Round Up for Charity Program
English Gardens launched our Round Up for Charity program in 2017 as a way of giving back to the community. This program gives customers an opportunity to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or more. Each month, we select one non-profit organization as the recipient of those funds. Every 8 minutes The American Red Cross responds to disasters, providing comfort, relief and recovery assistance. The Red Cross responded to approximately 3,450 home fires across Southeast Michigan every year. English Gardens donations helped raise money for the American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign.

Tiny Homes in Detroit is a way for low-income individuals to become homeowners. At least half of the renters are formerly homeless individuals and the rest are low-income seniors or children who have aged out of foster care. They follow a rent-to-own model and each of the homes range in size from 250 to 400 square feet. English Gardens donations funded the building of “The Ambassador” which was one home in the community.

Karmanos is the largest provider of cancer care and research in the state. English Gardens raised funds for breast cancer research through our ‘Baskets for a Cure’ and ‘Change for Change Program’.

This Oak Park based company fights food waste and hunger across Metro Detroit. Forgotten Harvest “rescues” over 40 million pounds of food a year by collecting surplus prepared and perishable food from over 800 locations. This donated food is delivered free-of-charge to 250+ emergency food providers in the metro Detroit area. English Gardens donations help fund operations and transportation of goods.

Capuchin Soup Kitchen has grown to include a number of ministry sites such as programs for newly released prisoners, community youth programs, residential and addiction treatment facilities, and The Capuchin Service Center that allows people to “shop” for food items and receive clothing and other items.
