The night sky is filled with a beautiful glow of holiday lights.
If light displays aren’t working properly or reliably, try these troubleshooting tips to keep help things shining brightly:
• Keep electric connections off the ground. The more opportunities for rain or snow to come in contact with your cords,
the more potential problems may occur. Try the “Sockitbox” to enclose plugs and protect connections from the elements.
• Are all the cords still plugged in? Cords can be heavy and fall out of an outlet.
• Are the lights controlled by a switch that someone has turned off? Make sure the switch is on.
• Is the timer set properly? Check to make sure it is set properly. In the case of a photocell timer, make sure it is pointed
away from the light display so it doesn’t receive artificial light and shut off.
• Do you need to reset the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)? -Unplug all cords going to the outlet. Press the reset button
in the center of the outlet. Plug cords back in and see if the problem is fixed.
• Did you blow a circuit? Check your electrical panel. If the circuit breaker has tripped, turn the switch to the “off” position and then
back to the “on” position. If it trips again you may have too many lights on the circuit. Reduce the number of light sets and try to reset
the breaker one more time. If it trips again you should call an electrician.
• Check the fuses on the light set. Each light set has its own individual fuses and comes with a replacement set.
• Use the “Light Keeper Pro” tool to easily find and fix problems with any bad incandescent light sets.
• One last tip. Be safe when using ladders. Here are some handy tips from the American Ladder Institute.
