Japanese Beetles can cause damage to a wide variety of plants and tend to skeletonize plant leaves. The adults begin feeding on plants in early summer. The majority of their activity lasts from June until August or September when temperatures begin to drop and their populations slowly die off.
Considering Japanese Beetles are opportunistic, they are known to feed on over 300 different plant varieties. They tend to move in groups as well. This can cause Beetles to do a significant amount of damage to one area or crop.
Get Rid of Beetles
The first, and most common, method of eliminating Japanese Beetle populations is with a bag trap. English Gardens carries the Rescue Japanese & Oriental Beetle Trap. The trap utilizes floral scents to attract the Beetles and its convenient plastic cone prevents the user from having to touch the attractants. The zippered bottom allows for easy clean up.
If you have already found Japanese Beetles in your garden, we suggest using Bonide Japanese Beetle Spray or the Espoma Insect Control. Always read and follow manufacturer’s instructions when using a pesticide or insecticide in your garden.
