Jamey Gutierrez is a senior landscape designer and holiday decorator with English Gardens Landscape Company. 

Jamey was named the 2014 Enrico Vespa Associate of the Year. The recognition is awarded in honor of one of our company’s founders, and is awarded annually to an associate who demonstrates high standards of customer service. She won 20 state-wide awards from the Michigan Green Industry Association (MGIA) for her landscape designs. 

This time of year, she devotes a lot of her time to perfecting the light displays at the Mall at Partridge Creek Mall. This is the 10^th year designing and installing the holiday displays at the mall. 

“We’re working on a new focal point piece for the mall: the Cabin at the Creek,” says Jamey.  “For the first time ever, Santa will be at the Mall for the holiday season for pictures and visits. I’m excited to see this new piece come together. “

During the rest of the year, Jamey is busy creating beautiful outdoor living areas for many customers.  One of her favorite projects is for a client she’s been working with for about five years.  “We’ve been designing her landscaping in phases,” Jamey explains.  “She’s very open to very unique plants and loves the use of boulders and flagstone. 

“She does a great job of maintaining her yard too, so it always looks great!”

Jamey graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture.   

She’s been with English Gardens for 12 years, and says:  “I like this industry because it feels like a huge family. Everyone knows someone that you know. People are always willing to help and give good advice.

“Working for English Gardens gives me a great balance in my life. I am able to work and spend time with my kids. I’m fortunate that the Landscape Company gave me the opportunity to work a schedule that allows me to experience the best of both worlds.“
