If you’re looking for creative ways to decorate pumpkins this year without the mess of carving, check out these fun alternatives.
There are many ways to decorate pumpkins and, the best part is, a lot of these creations can be made with things you probably already have around your house like glue, glitter, paper, rhinestones, paint and more!
Paint With Color
You can never go wrong with paint! An endless variety of colors allows you to dream up and design anything you want. Black is perfect for Halloween and really creates a spooky, fun theme. Think of all the spooky designs you normally carve but make them happen with paint! Use a pencil to trace your design on the pumpkin first.
Try an unexpected paint color like army green and give it a pop with some contrasting hot pink polka dots. Paint pens are great for fine details and finishing touches.
Gold is also a super trendy and fun color to incorporate.
Add Ribbon
Ribbon is an excellent way to add texture, color and design. Put all those extra pieces lying around to good use! Simply cut strands and apply by securing with pins at the top and bottom.
Wart Pumpkins
You know those funky pumpkins with warts? Don’t leave them behind! They’re beautiful too – we promise! Color them in a bright and bold hue to enhance their already-interesting texture. Such a simple solution that really gives them a new and improved look!
Make it Sparkle
Sometimes you gotta get a little fancy! Add some shimmering magic with glitter and rhinestones. Such a glitzy and beautiful look.
Also, the stem often gets forgotten but you can decorate this too! Simply add glitter with glue and let it fully dry.
Give them a spooky twist by drawing on a spider web design. For larger pumpkins, let the glue drip down the sides and then apply glitter for a unique design.
Save those Crayons
Peel the wrapper off those leftover and broken crayons. Use bright and fun colors to keep it interesting. Hot glue each crayon piece to the top of the pumpkin to keep it in place. Than use a hairdryer and watch the wax melt and drip down. Patience is key here – this one takes a little bit of time!
Try it With Tape
Another idea is to use tape and apply it on the pumpkin in any design you want – think Chevron! Paint over the whole design, let it dry, then remove the tape to reveal your pattern!
Make it Shine
Find a use for left over confetti and sequins. Use your favorite pieces and push pins or sewing pins to apply in a fun pattern. This one really shines in the light!
Green Faces and Gourd Figures
And finally, spooky faces, animals or whimsical creatures – you name it, you can create it! The interesting shapes of mini gourds provide the perfect canvas. Use painted toothpicks to create a little porcupine.
Googly eyes, paper accents, feathers and natural elements are other great ways to bring these little creatures to life. You can even draw on some funny faces.
