Bring a little Spring indoors with house plants. They will brighten up your indoor space AND promote healthier living. House plants clean the air and boost your immune system, making them great decorations for your home and office.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera has so many benefits. The sap can be used in juices, applied topically or used as an air scrubber. Aloe grows great indoors. For best results, keep your plant in a warm area near natural light. Keep it handy on a kitchen counter so it’s easy to use. Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry. The most common mistake with Aloe plants is overwatering or allowing them to sit in water.
Pothos
Pothos are very low-maintenance plants. They are extremely forgiving if neglected and bounce back quickly. They tolerate dry soil longer than most plants. Pothos do great in almost any light condition, especially interior spaces with few windows, like bathrooms and offices. Keep them away from direct light, and out of reach of pets and children.
Snake Plants
Snake Plants are among the easiest of all house plants to grow. They are great at cleaning the air indoors and have been proven to help you sleep, making them great additions to your bedroom. They are very forgiving, and can go weeks without water or light and still thrive. For best results keep them in indirect light, and water only when the soil is completely dry.
Spider Plants
Spider Plants are especially good at scrubbing the air. They increase oxygen levels, which improves a number of body functions. Spider plants are easy to care for and thrive in almost any indoor condition. They prefer bright-indirect light, but will do well in all conditions except direct sunlight. Water thoroughly through the summer and mist the leaves occasionally. Cut back on watering during the winter.
Boston Ferns
Caring for Boston Ferns is a bit more specific, but can be simple once you know what your plant needs. Boston Ferns like high humidity and a cool, but bright, location. To add humidity, especially in the winter, try placing your Fern on a saucer of pebbles or stones filled with water, or misting their leaves once or twice a week. The leaves will start to yellow if the humidity is too low. They also like damp soil. Check your plant daily to monitor this. Boston Ferns need bright, indirect light. Place them near a window that receives at least two hours of indirect light a day.
