Dracaena Marginata

The Dracaena Marginata, also known as the Dragon Tree, has green sword-like, red edge foliage. Native to Madagascar, it can reach heights of 6 feet as an indoor plant. Due to their forgiving nature, they are great plants for beginning plant parents.

Light

Dragon Tree does well in bright-indirect lighting conditions. However, they can survive with medium light, but they will grow more slowly and produce smaller leaves.

Be sure to keep your plant away from direct sun. The leaves are sensitive and will burn.

Water

Due to its native environment, the Dragon Tree tolerates drought very well. It prefers when the soil drys out about 1/3 of the way before watering.

Because of its forgiving nature, it is easy to overwater Dracaena Marginata. Tips turning brown is a good indication the plant is receiving too much water.

Fertilizer

Dracaena Marginata do not need much food to thirve. To give them an extra boost you can fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer every other month from Spring to Fall. Do not fertilize in the winter.
