Wait, wait, wait…. whoa!!! What’s that outside, what?? The sun and blue skies….. Oh look and you can be out there without a jacket?? It is perfect weather to get out and do a little garden clean up and add some color to your boring landscape.
I thought my two and a half year old would love to help plant some pansies to brighten up our stoop. Well, she was a little hesitant with the dirt, but I showed her how to spread apart the roots and she had a blast, tearing them and putting them in our containers. And yes tearing is what she did, but the look of accomplishment on her face was well worth the “not-so-proper-way” about it.
She had a blast with that, and then watering them. But when we got around to picking up leaves from the side bed she didn’t want any part. So I did that on my own; it was great to see what’s coming up under all those fall leaves, daffodils, iris, mammoth mum and sedum. After each one I uncovered Little Miss would ask. “What’s that, what’s that?”
I loved loved loved it! Can’t wait to see what we can get into in the next few weeks.
Dig in and get the kids involved. We’ll chronicle adventures of gardening with the next generation.
