Jim Morris is English Gardens Landscape Company Manager, where he oversees the team of eight designers.

“My days are very different from one another,” explains Jim.  “We’re a fast-paced organization with many projects occurring at any one time.

“I am the support for the design/sales team. I try to make myself as available as possible to them every day to make sure our customers’ needs are being fulfilled.  Our bar is very high to achieve excellent customer service, so it keeps me busy.”

In addition to manager, Jim is one of the designers.  He regularly meets with clients to help transform their outdoor living areas. 

“I love to design and work with clients, but my favorite part of the job is watching our staff succeed,” says Jim.  “It’s great to be part of a team that does great work for our clients and is recognized in the industry.”

In total, Jim has worked at English Gardens for 18 years.  He joined English Gardens shortly after receiving his degree in horticulture from Michigan State University.  He left for five years when he moved to North Carolina to work in the Securities Industry, but found it to be too boring for his taste.

“I enjoy working outside and seeing a cool concept turn into a living physical entity….and then winning an award,” he says with a smile.  Winning an award is something he’s accomplished 18 times while working at English Gardens.  His most recent award-winning project was the Chaika residence, which he co-designed with Heidi Cook.  The project received a gold award from the Michigan Green Industry Association in 2017.
