Just in time for summer, these long-blooming plants are a great addition to garden beds.
Annabelle Hydrangea
A multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub with a rounded growth habit that grows well even in full shade, this Hydrangea’s large, white blooms are sure to attract attention. The long-lasting flowers make great cut flowers, fresh or dried. Leave the spent blooms intact all winter for some added interest.
Knock-out Roses
The Knock-out series of roses have become quite popular due to their low maintenance, disease resistance and long bloom-time — beginning in June and continuing all the way through fall. Plant them in mixed beds as a specimen or in clusters as a hedge. The knock-out series generally grows three to five feet tall. Prune to keep their size under control, as necessary.
Rozanne Geranium
Noted for its non-stop flowering throughout the growing season, this perennial geranium is sure to please. Violet-blue flowers bloom from June until frost on low mounding, deeply cut, dark green foliage. Rozanne can be cut back anytime to control spread, if desired.
Walker’s Low Catmint
This Catmint is a medium-sized perennial growing 24 – 30’’ tall with beautiful spikes of purple flowers rising above the grey-green, aromatic foliage. Trim spikes after flowering for continuous bloom nearly all summer long.
