English Gardens is proud to carry seed packets from Botanical Interests, a family-owned business founded in 1995. The company offers more than 600 varieties of certified organic, heirloom, non-GMO, untreated and responsibly produced hybrid vegetable, herb and flower seeds.
Curtis and Judy, the founders, were dismayed by the number of gardeners without access to the information they needed. Their desire for more information lead them to create a seed packet that is packed with information, recipes and more!
“I like to say that we’re a gardening education company that just happens to sell seeds,” Curtis says. When Curtis and Judy realized that the tradition of passing on gardening techniques and secrets was no longer occurring, they were vehement to change this. Each packet is filled with information, designed to help any novice gardener succeed and continue to pass on the past time of gardening.
On the outside of every packet you will find a beautiful illustration, the common name, variety and botanical name. Critical information regarding this variety, a plant, tag, description and detailed instructions on when and how to start these seeds can also be found outside.
On the inside, consumers can find recipes, harvesting tips, techniques to avoid diseases and fun botanical facts.
Botanical Interests has grown significantly over the years. Like English Gardens, as the company continues to grow, it maintains its small business, family-owned charm that’s attractive to consumers.
With fall just around the corner, there are numerous veggies that can be started from seed in the late summer. Many of these vegetables perform better in cool weather and can be harvested in September and October. Good choices include: Broccoli, lettuce, spinach, carrots and bok choy.
