Landscape designer Valerie Tarquini won a gold award from the Michigan Green Industry Association for this project. 

The overgrown landscape was renovated with a new deck and plants, which provide seasonal interest with minimal maintenance.

This project’s highlight is a custom-built deck constructed of a trek-style recycled material that’s a long-lasting wood replacement.  It features a custom aluminum railing, and under screen made of blue-green boulders. 

This deck is built to last, with a life expectancy of 30 to 40 years. According to Valerie, “It’s the best deck we’ve ever built.”
