For over 15 years, English Gardens has partnered with the Rose Hill Center to provide customers a beautiful selection of garden roses. English Gardens is the exclusive retailer of the roses, which are grown by patients of the center. Their roses are sold during a special event day at the center as part of fundraising efforts and exclusively at English Gardens.
Rose Hill has selected some of the showiest and rewarding roses to bring beauty and delight to your garden for years to come. The roses look great and arrive loaded with flower buds. More than 20 varieties of roses can be purchased at English Gardens stores in Royal Oak, West Bloomfield and Clinton Township.
Based in Holly, Michigan, Rose Hill is a private, non-profit rehabilitation and treatment facility for people with mental illness. The Rose Hill rose program is part of a nationally recognized form of work therapy that allows residents to participate in challenging and supportive work opportunities to restore self-esteem and assist in recovery.
Each year, members of the Rose Hill horticulture team care for nearly 1,200 roses after they arrive as bare-root cuttings in the winter. After several months of hard work, dedication and care, the plants are ready for sale in mid-May at English Gardens. A specially designed tag on each plant identifies it as a Rose Hill plant and provides information on the Rose Hill Mission.
