During August and September, English Gardens supported Cass Community Social Services Tiny Homes project through our Round Up Your Purchase program. One home in particular, The Ambassador, was the focus of this fundraiser. To raise funds, English Gardens asked customers to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar or more, and 100% of the money raised was donated to help build the home.
“We launched the ‘Round Up Your Purchase’ program in August, and received very positive feedback from customers,” explains John Darin, English Gardens president. “We are pleased to announce this program raised $10,300 for Tiny Homes in Detroit. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this effort.”
Tiny Homes in Detroit is a way for low-income individuals to become homeowners. At least half of the renters are formerly homeless individuals and the rest are low-income seniors or children who have aged out of foster care. They follow a rent-to-own model and each of the homes range in size from 250 to 400 square feet.
