English Gardens opened its doors in 1954 with a single store in Dearborn Heights. Today, 10 second-generation owners oversee the day-to-day operations of five retail stores and a full-service, award-winning landscape design and installation company. We are consistently voted THE BEST by readers of The Detroit News.

English Gardens was named Member of the Year by MGIA (Michigan Green Industry Association) in 2017. English Gardens received the IGC (Independent Garden Center) Retailer of the Year Award in 2015. This award is presented annually to a garden center demonstration notable leadership and innovation. The award was established in memory of Dick Morey, founder of IGC Magazine and an advocate for the independent sector.
